Building a Bridge to Kindness

Little Oak is SAVING LIVES!

Since 2013, with your help, Little Oak Sanctuary has rescued hundreds of farmed animals in need.  We provide a caring, nurturing and healing place for animals who have nowhere else to turn, but we need your help to continue...

Australia's climate is challenging

Providing care for farmed animals in the Australian climate is an ongoing challenge.  Australia is a country of drought and of flooding rains.

The main access to Little Oak Sanctuary is over a creek, and when this floods we can become cut off from veterinary care and vital feed supplies.  It also means we are unable to undertake animal rescue work whilst we are flooded in, and history has shown it is at exactly these times that animals need us the most.

But we've got a plan

We've got a plan to future proof our sanctuary and improve our sustainability in a time of climate uncertainty.

We are fundraising to secure vital winter hay to feed rescue animals - and to fund the construction of A BRIDGE to allow us to continue to rescue, secure feed and access veterinary care

Why now? We're in drought - which is actually the perfect time to build this bridge - the creek is now at an all time low which will make the construction of the bridge far simpler.  We are building the sanctuary to be more robust in the face of future droughts, and to be equipped for the reality of undertaking animal rescue work in the harsh and often changeable Australian climate.

You can join us

We need to raise $35,000.

$10,000 of this will cover vital hay we need to get rescue animals through another drought effected winter, we need 200 x small bales of hay ($4,000) and 20 x large bales of hay ($6,000) to get the grazing animals in our care through winter.

We have already acquired most of the materials to construct our bridge, we still need $25,000 to fund the construction of it.  This will create a bridge over the creek we cross to access the sanctuary, allowing us to continue our rescue work, access vet care and feed supplies even whilst the creek is flooded.

Don't let the climate cut off our work.  Donate to our Build a Bridge to Kindness appeal today!  If you're on Facebook and want to hold a fundraiser to help us reach our target, just let us know so that we can thank you and add your efforts to our tally!

Little Oak Sanctuary is a registered charity with DGR status, donations over $2 are tax deductible.
